Kaplan GRE® Exam Vocabulary FAQ

Thank you for purchasing Kaplan’s GRE® Exam Vocabulary Flashcards!  This application is designed as a learning tool and mobile reference.  The application works in two modes; Flashcards and Reference.  The title in the top banner indicates which mode is active.  Tap the Flashcards or Reference icon in the lower left hand corner to switch between modes.

Flashcards Help

Basic Operation of Flashcards

To get started, tap any one of the four categories; All Words, Challenging, Advanced, or Most Difficult and those cards will be loaded.  The first vocabulary term will be displayed along with its phonetic pronunciation and part of speech (noun, verb, etc).

To flip a card, tap the Tap Here text (in Two Card view) or the blue arrow in the lower right corner (in One Card view) and the definition will be displayed.  Tap Synonyms to replace the definition with synonyms or Usage to see the word used in a sample sentence.

After reviewing both sides, tap on the green check mark to indicate that you know the material, or tap on the red X if you do not.  After "scoring" the card, the next card in the category will be displayed and the cumulative score (displayed in the upper right of the screen) will be updated.

Study Mode

By default, card sets will be presented in Study Mode.  After a pass through the entire set has been completed, Study Mode will shuffle the "missed" cards (and a few others) into a new subset.  When all of the cards have been correctly answered you can Take the Quiz! or start over.

Quiz Mode

If you tap ···More and Take the Quiz! the quiz mode will be activated.  Once you've gone through the entire set, the score will be saved and is viewable from the GRE Flashcards list.  Note that if you've taken a single category quiz multiple times, the average of those scores will be shown along with the number of quizzes taken.
